About The Position

The Contact Representative (Benefits Coordinator) position at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center is primarily responsible for identifying patients eligible for alternate health resources, such as Medicare and Medicaid. This role involves close collaboration with various agencies to establish eligibility and ensure patients understand their entitlements. The position is full-time and permanent, reporting to the Benefits Coordinator Supervisor.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment examination.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Experience working with a health care delivery system and explaining health service options.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and educate patients regarding health services and program eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Social Security Insurance and similar resources.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive patient interviews and provide recommendations on health care benefit programs.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Phoenix Indian Medical Center staff to identify and utilize alternate resources for the Indian population.
  • Establish eligibility for Medicare by collaborating with the Social Security Administration.
  • Coordinate with local welfare departments and tribal offices to determine eligibility for Medicare, Medicaid, and other benefits.
  • Interview patients to ensure they understand their entitlements in Indian Health Service facilities.
  • Maintain a tracking system for pending applications for Medicare and Medicaid programs.
