General position summary: The Consumer Sales Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing Suddath’s consumer (B2C) private move sales performance across assigned branches and markets. This role leads day‑to‑day execution of the consumer sales operation, with a strong focus on inside sales effectiveness, lead conversion, pricing discipline, and CRM compliance. The Consumer Sales Manager coaches and develops a high‑performing inside sales team, ensures consistent execution of Suddath’s consumer sales processes, and partners closely with branch leadership, operations, and marketing to drive profitable revenue growth and an excellent customer experience. The ideal candidate will be a highly effective communicator, and motivator of people who is also hungry, humble and smart. As a sales leader the successful candidate will inspire their team to achieve sales goals and will be creative in finding ways to differentiate Suddath and communicate value to our U.S. domestic transferees and international assignees. Our private moving sales leader will be able to articulate their sales vision to not only direct reports but to leadership as well. And the successful candidate will find ways to make sure they and their team have fun and enjoy their work by fostering a highly collaborative, rewarding and celebratory environment. This position is a hybrid office environment role working 3 days (Tue, Wed and Thurs) in the office.

Requirements

  • Experience managing or helping to scale an inside sales or call‑center‑based sales team.
  • Strong understanding of consumer sales metrics such as lead conversion, speed‑to‑lead, close rate, and margin.
  • Proven ability to coach, motivate, and hold sales teams accountable.
  • Comfortable operating in a structured sales environment with defined processes and KPIs.
  • Strong CRM discipline and data‑driven decision‑making skills.
  • Willingness to travel 25–50% based on market needs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as forms, contracts, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to draft routine reports.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have experience with social networking and utilizing a CRM database
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as situations and needs change throughout the workday
  • Ability to multi-task and organize workflow to manage daily responsibilities, meet deadlines and prioritize work
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in moving & storage, home services, logistics, or other high‑volume consumer sales environments preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university is preferred; five+ years of direct sales experience with at least 2+ years in sales management or team lead role; moving industry experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Consumer Sales Execution & Performance Management Manage day‑to‑day performance of Suddath’s Private Move (B2C) sales team across assigned markets. Primarily responsible for coaching and mentoring direct reports. Drive consistent execution of established consumer sales processes, standards, and operating rhythms. Own accountability for lead conversion, booked revenue, pricing discipline, and margin performance. Partner with branch managers to align sales activity with operational capacity and service quality.
  • Inside Sales Team Leadership Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing inside sales team focused on consultative consumer selling. Support hiring, onboarding, and ramp‑up of new inside sales team members. Reinforce best practices for inbound lead handling, outbound follow‑up, objection handling, and closing. Build bench strength and support career progression within the consumer sales organization.
  • Sales Operating Rhythm & Coaching Execute a consistent performance cadence including: Weekly team sales meetings Weekly individual coaching and accountability sessions Regular review of lead flow, speed‑to‑lead, and close rates Monthly performance scorecards by individual and branch Use data and reporting to coach performance, identify gaps, and drive improvement.
  • Lead Management, Pricing & Revenue Quality Ensure disciplined execution of the consumer sales funnel from inbound lead to booked move. Enforce pricing guidelines, discount governance, and revenue quality standards. Identify and address fallout, cancellations, and re‑quotes through coaching and process adherence. Partner with operations to ensure accurate surveys and smooth sales‑to‑operations handoffs.
  • CRM, Reporting & Forecasting Ensure 100% compliance with Suddath’s CRM platform (HubSpot) for lead management, pipeline tracking, and reporting. Maintain accurate forecasting of private move volume and revenue for assigned markets. Use CRM data to identify trends, performance gaps, and coaching opportunities.
  • Marketing & Cross‑Functional Alignment Partner with Marketing to ensure timely follow‑up and conversion of consumer leads generated through digital and local campaigns. Provide feedback on lead quality and customer trends to improve demand generation efforts. Collaborate closely with operations to support service recovery and customer satisfaction.
