DATCU is currently looking for a Lending Underwriter. We are seeking a candidate with an understanding of the Indirect Lending Process: Familiarity with auto loan financing through dealerships and knowledge of underwriting guidelines and procedures. Average Day on the Job: Responsible for receiving, reviewing, and processing applications for indirect consumer loans. Assembles loan applications and coordinates appraisals for loans that meet initial lending criteria and are within approved lending limits. Approves loans within limits of authority. Presents loan requests above lending limit for approval as per loan policy. Answers any partner dealer questions regarding applications and speaking with dealer partners on the phone to obtain additional loan information and documentation as needed. Ensures that dealers and prospective dealers are promptly and professionally served. Provides general Credit Union information and cross-sells services. Responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with area automobile, boat, and recreational vehicle dealerships. Responsible for building relationships with staff of auto refinance companies signed. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice. This position has the potential for remote work based on management discretion.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with required loan training and certification.
  • Knowledge of Credit Union loan services, policies, and procedures.
  • Understanding of related legal and regulatory standards, and required loan documentation.
  • Knowledge of consumer lending practices.
  • General lending knowledge.
  • Abilities generally acquired on the job. Includes formal and on-the-job training.
  • Excellent interviewing, communication, and public relations skills.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills.
  • Professional appearance, dress, and attitude.
  • Exceptional Member Service skills.
  • Ability to operate related computer applications and other business equipment.
  • Strong typing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year of Loan Underwriting experience preferred.
  • Bilingual a plus.
