The Consumable Systems Engineer is responsible for consumables product technology development and sustainment for our portfolio of proprietary Echo® Qualified consumables. A systems engineering approach is essential as these consumables are the key interface between the physics of our Acoustic Droplet Ejection technology and our customers’ applications. Qualified candidate must have hands-on laboratory experience, be able to analyze data, execute tasks on-time, and be able to present results to a multi-disciplinary team. This position reports to the Consumables Engineering Manager and is part of the Product Development group located in San Jose and will be an on-site role. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Support new product development and sustainment Write and execute test plans and reports Troubleshoot experiments and perform root cause analysis Perform data analysis and statistical analysis Work independently as well as communicate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Product Management, and Quality

Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Materials/Biomedical Engineering or similar with 2+ years of experience in medical devices, medical diagnostics, or life sciences OR MS degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Materials/Biomedical Engineering or similar with 0-2 years of experience in medical devices, medical diagnostics, or life sciences
  • Experience working with laboratory instrumentation, especially acoustic liquid handlers
  • Hands-on wet lab skills (e.g. pipetting, centrifugation) and familiarity with safe chemical handling practices
  • English technical communication skills, written and oral
  • Ability to travel 5%
  • Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 25lb

Nice To Haves

  • Biological laboratory methods such as PCR, qPCR, or gene sequencing highly preferred
  • Experimental design and troubleshooting experiments
  • Python for data processing and statistical analysis
