The position involves managing, configuring, and maintaining Solaris (10/11) and Linux (RHEL, CentOS, or equivalent) servers across production, test, and development environments. The role requires overseeing patch management, kernel upgrades, and OS-level security hardening, while also monitoring system performance, availability, and capacity to implement proactive measures for optimal performance. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing patch repositories and documentation. In terms of architecture and engineering, the role includes designing and implementing scalable, secure, and highly available UNIX-based solutions that align with business requirements. The candidate will lead migrations, upgrades, and modernization projects involving Solaris and Linux platforms, as well as automate system tasks and deployment processes using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl. The position also emphasizes security and compliance, ensuring that systems meet security best practices and compliance standards such as CIS benchmarks, NIST, and ISO. The candidate will manage user accounts, roles, and permissions following the principle of least privilege and support audit and compliance activities by providing necessary system documentation and evidence. Support and troubleshooting responsibilities include providing Tier III support for complex system issues, conducting root cause analysis, and resolving incidents. The candidate will collaborate with application, network, and database teams to diagnose and resolve cross-platform issues. Finally, the role involves creating and maintaining detailed system documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures, as well as mentoring junior administrators and providing knowledge transfer on UNIX/Linux best practices and emerging technologies.
