About The Position

Executes the design of complex Drive systems (Variable Frequency Drives) that integrate hardware and software. Completes complex material specification, schematic preparation and appropriate follow-up. Makes recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction. Performs complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design. Performs full range of standard work for the professional field. Applies advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently. Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations. Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization (Drive Systems) through successful completion of moderately complex assignments. Successfully applies complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization (Drive Systems). Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues. Primary work location in Alpharetta, GA. Travel required approximately 60% to various client sites throughout the US. International travel possible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Mechatronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience in drive engineering and commissioning in metals industry environment or related experience; OR Master’s degree or the equivalent in Mechatronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and 2 years of experience in drive engineering and commissioning in metals industry environment or related experience.
  • Drive Engineering with state-of-the-art Variable Frequency Drives like Siemens S120 Drives, Siemens 6RA80 Drives, ABB ACS 880 Drives, ABB DCS 880 Drives or similar
  • Drive Commissioning with state-of-the-art Variable Frequency Drives like Siemens S120 Drives, Siemens 6RA80 Drives, ABB ACS 880 Drives, ABB DCS 880 Drives or similar
  • Creating and analyzing electrical schematics for Variable Frequency Drives and checking for correctness
  • Experience with Drive Engineering and Commissioning in the Metals Industry (especially Steel and Aluminum)
  • Understanding of Physics regarding Variable Frequency Drives and Motors (especially Induction motors, DC-Motors and/or Synchronous Motors)
  • Engineering and Commissioning of medium voltage Variable Frequency Drives
