About The Position

The Consulting Engineer V is responsible for providing engineering guidance, calculations, analysis, studies and recommendations for a specialized segment of engineering within schedule and budget of an assigned project. Responsibilities Prepares, reviews, and approves drawings as required. Leads various-sized groups of engineers, designers, and/or specialists. Prepares and documents economic analyses and other system studies. Prepares and presents expert testimony before regulatory bodies and courts. Prepares and makes presentations to client and company management. Assists with interpreting codes and permitting as it relates to a specific discipline. Ensures quality, quantity, and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks. Advanced level of specialized engineering knowledge within a specific discipline and has a basic understanding of other disciplines. Advanced knowledge of business development concepts and methods and leads the project proposal process. Advanced knowledge of discipline tools and company cornerstone applications. Fully versed with the process of preparing and checking of calculations as well as the approval, revision, retention and storage of calculations within their discipline. Fully versed in the collection and/or evaluation of data and information regarding technical and economic factors such as physical, chemical, environmental, maintenance, operational, regulatory, constructability, and/or schedule factors relating to a specific subject within a discipline. Understands factors from outside engineer’s discipline that impact specific problems. Fully understands the use of requisition and the role of the materials management. Reviews and advises on purchase orders and subcontracts. Assists with and the monitors the development of manpower, man-hour and labor cost requirements for a project to aid in evaluating budget limitations. Leads estimating tasks and performs material take-offs for a specific discipline. Advanced level of knowledge of discipline’s material costs, equipment, and materials lists and can instruct others in understanding their use and requirements. Fully understands and leads the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks within a specific discipline. Fully versed in the project change control process and identifies potential change. Fully versed with and can check and review the work sequence, general content, and the methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services, or construction within a specific discipline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four year accredited college/university, and a minimum of 20 years’ experience.
  • Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Position may require travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science or Doctorate in specialty of discipline preferred.
  • Professional Engineering License preferred.
