About The Position

The position of Ordnance/Explosive Safety Specialist Consultant at Leidos involves providing senior-level recommendations and advice to support ordnance handling, storage, and transport operations. This remote role requires occasional travel and focuses on optimizing ordnance positioning and developing load plans to ensure Fleet ordnance readiness. The consultant will also be responsible for reviewing and analyzing ordnance management processes and providing expert management advice on explosives safety both at sea and ashore.

Requirements

  • 20+ years of experience in explosive safety, storage, handling, and inspection (Sea and Shore).
  • Naval experience on DDGs, CGs, CVNs, and shoreside Naval Munitions Commands.
  • Served as AEGIS System Test Officer.
  • Designed and developed realistic live fire missile events on naval ranges.
  • Oversaw live fire missile operations.
  • Experience managing explosive safety programs and mishap response.
  • Proficient in NCEA Management and Munitions Load Plan.
  • Served as a facilities manager and managed Physical Security programs afloat and ashore.
  • Lead Project and Program manager for ordnance operations.

  • Significant knowledge of OP4 and OP5 references.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience as an executive-level briefer.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project Professional.
  • Experience with RFMSS Range Scheduler.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an expert on ordnance-related issues, including explosives safety and Fleet Ordnance Support.
  • Provide advice on the positioning of ordnance assets to support Fleet ordnance readiness.
  • Review, analyze, and develop proposals for changes to existing ordnance management processes.
  • Develop and coordinate implementation plans for new or revised ordnance technologies and logistics processes.
  • Provide expert management advice on explosives safety related to ordnance operations and facilities.
  • Assist in identifying and developing ordnance readiness, training, and testing requirements.
  • Resolve complex problems using technical knowledge and reasoning.
  • Interpret explosives safety legislation at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Analyze explosives safety event waivers and deviations from standard policies.
  • Provide analytical advice regarding ordnance program execution and support development.
  • Communicate effectively with executive leadership regarding significant organizational matters.
