Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience required.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources with a concentration in classification and compensation.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of human resources consulting.
  • Knowledge of professional guidelines, standards, and principles applicable to assigned projects.
  • Knowledge of research methodology and statistical methods, analyses, and concepts.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations as well as industry standards and best practices pertinent to the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Five (5) years of professional level analytical and/or consultative experience in support of human resources functions, with a concentration in classification and/or compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Applies knowledge of human resources subject matter to perform routine to complex professional level analytical and consultative work in classification, compensation, and a variety of human resources competency areas.
  • Compiles, organizes, analyzes, and interprets data for projects and reports; utilizes findings to formulate defensible recommendations related to assigned tasks conveying a command of the relevant facts and information.
  • Prepares high quality deliverables such as class descriptions and data spreadsheets that are relevant, concise, consistent, thorough, and adhere to established standards.
  • Conducts research and statistical analyses; gathers complete and accurate information through questioning and by checking multiple sources; seeks the perspectives of knowledgeable persons and those involved in an area of subject matter expertise.
  • Informs assigned project manager of issues and asks relevant questions; anticipates project needs and contributes to the overall quality of project deliverables; conveys recommendations with confidence and in a defensible manner.
  • Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternatives; notices discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information.
  • Ensures work products/client deliverables are well-organized, thorough, accurate, complete, and in a client ready format; forwards deliverables to clients with explanation of recommendations and responds to routine client questions.
  • Participates in the development of human resources policies and procedures, and maintains knowledge of current laws, legislation, and ordinances related to human resources.
  • Seeks exposure to a wide variety of public sector services and gains thorough understanding of the public sector job families, occupational groups, and industries that perform those services.
  • Assists with the development of internal continuous business process improvement, human resources policies and procedures, and maintains knowledge of current laws, legislation, and ordinances related to human resources.
  • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes own workload; coordinates project activities with others.
  • Supports management in subject matter areas, provides advice and counsel as appropriate.
  • Communicates with internal and external clients to provide professional consultation, project status, or other project information requiring significant interpretation.
  • Participates in establishing project scope, determines project timetables, monitors, and adheres to project budgets and timelines, tracks project status and costs, and identifies potential cost overruns; attends preproposal meetings.
  • Attends meetings with prospective clients to discuss their needs and to present information about services provided.
