About The Position

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is seeking a Consultant & Utilities Auditor to join its Internal Audit Division. This role involves performing financial verification audits of consultant and utility company reimbursement requests, preparing summaries and reports, and leading audit engagements under the direction of the Audit Director and manager. The position is crucial for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while contributing to the agency's mission of enhancing the quality of life through transportation.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or higher in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience or knowledge in analytics, government contracting requirements, and fraud evaluation.
• Ability to apply knowledge of state and federal regulations, fiscal data, and accounting systems.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

• Related auditing or accounting experience.
• Possession of auditing credentials such as CPA, CIA, CFE, CISA, CRMA, or CGAP.

Responsibilities

• Conduct audits to determine the nature, scope, and direction of the audit.
• Review and analyze available information to identify potential issues.
• Schedule audits and prepare audit work papers.
• Analyze, summarize, and review data; report findings and interpret results.
• Draft correspondence, reports, and other written materials.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and agency guidelines.
• Gather documentation to support negotiated resolution of non-compliance issues.
