At ERM , you’ll play a pivotal role as a Consultant, Transmission Routing and Siting in guiding projects that balance progress with environmental stewardship—helping communities and clients achieve their goals while protecting natural resources. This role is based in the Great Lakes and Northeast region . What Your Impact Is You’ll lead and support routing and siting studies for new-build electric transmission projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and minimizing environmental impacts. Your expertise will influence critical decisions, from alternative route analysis to stakeholder engagement, shaping projects that power the future. What You'll Bring Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Land Use Planning, Cultural Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience). 2+ years consulting or industry experience with power sector clients on complex projects. Proven success in transmission line routing/siting and permitting, especially in New York and surrounding areas. Strong technical writing, communication, and critical thinking skills. Solid understanding of impact assessment issues (wetlands, protected species, cultural resources, visual impacts). Ability to travel up to 15%. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. Preferred: Experience leading tasks and managing client relationships. Familiarity with construction best practices and regulatory frameworks. Collaborative mindset with a positive outlook and integrity. Key Responsibilities Conduct routing and siting studies, analyze constraints, and develop route alternatives. Prepare high-quality technical reports and documentation. Participate in agency meetings and public open houses (in-person and virtual). Support proposal development and contribute to business growth initiatives. Build strong relationships with ERM’s national impact assessment team and technical experts. For the Consultant, Transmission Routing and Siting position, the anticipated annual base pay is $74,000– $83,641 (USD) . Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
