Collaboration will take place in one of our office locations in Columbus, OH, Scottsdale, AZ, or Des Moines, IA. The Nationwide Financial Integrated Digital Services Organization is seeking a technical lead to join the Sales & New Business Commissions & Compensation team. This role will be responsible for leading technical decision for the Nationwide Financial Commission System (NFCS). The ideal candidate is driven to learn, team oriented, self-starting, builds great business and IT relationships, and loves rising to a challenge. The ability to troubleshoot complex technical solutions is a must, knowledge of the development lifecycle and experience working on an agile team is a must. Applicants for our development & engineering positions should come with a strong foundation in some combination of the following: SQL, Oracle, PL SQL, Stored Procedures, Unix/Linux Shell scripting, Informatica. While not required, ideal candidates will also have knowledge or experience with SAP Sales Performance Management (formerly Callidus) experience and/or an understanding of API’s. This position reports directly to a Software Engineering Product Manager and will be utilized as a high performing individual contributor developer and technical leader, playing a key driving role in planning, developing, and deploying solutions for NFCS.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Mentors and trains other team members on design techniques, tools and coding standards.
  • Provides strategic advice on using technology to achieve goals.
  • Drives cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.
  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and optimal practices.
  • Champions the use of DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
  • Ensures continuous learning and improvement through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
  • Manages individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is strongly preferred.
  • Six years of experience in programming and systems analysis.
  • Three years of experience in project management is preferred.
  • Hands-on technical leadership experience leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • Proficiency in one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to tackle sophisticated business and development problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge or experience with SAP Sales Performance Management (formerly Callidus).
  • Understanding of APIs.
