About The Position

The Consultant, Public Affairs position at APCO Worldwide is a mid-level role focused on public affairs and strategic communications. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in issue advocacy, coalition building, and project management, and will be responsible for supporting and implementing communication campaigns for high-profile clients. Requirements

  • 3-5 years of public affairs, strategic communications, or political campaign experience.
  • Experience with state and federal legislative and regulatory campaigns is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of PR/strategic communications experience with a focus on earned media.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Solid project management experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional presentation, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Experience in business development opportunities, including proposal development and staffing plan management.
  • Excellent client and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Political/campaign experience is a plus.
  • Experience with coalition building and management efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Support and implement a wide range of strategic communication and issue advocacy campaigns for high-profile clients.
  • Design and implement integrated communications and issue campaigns to position client issues with key audiences.
  • Create effective messages and produce high-quality written deliverables, such as issue backgrounders and press materials.
  • Develop compelling advocacy communications to convey complex policy issues to the public.
  • Manage coalition building and stakeholder engagement efforts, including recruitment and activation.
  • Support media relations efforts, including drafting op-eds and organizing press conferences.
  • Monitor developments in key client issue areas and flag opportunities for engagement.
  • Participate in business development activities, including writing proposals and developing pitch decks.
