Nationwide is seeking a Marketing Management Consultant to support content strategy and thought leadership activation for the Nationwide Retirement Institute (NRI) and other cross-NF brand initiatives. In this role, you will help bring NRI’s insights to life through integrated content and omnichannel activation—positioning Nationwide as a trusted authority on retirement planning with a specific focus on planning for healthcare costs and longevity. This role sits within NF Marketing Integration and partners closely with subject‑matter experts and enterprise marketing teams to ensure thought leadership is strategically packaged, activated, and amplified across channels. As a Consultant, you are responsible for leading and/or assisting the overall development and execution of marketing strategies using highly advanced marketing principles and standard methodologies. You will execute on future business or marketing needs driven by quantitative data/research, competitive insights and/or consumer behaviors. We'll count on you to ensure a strong focus on end-to-end customer experience, delivering outstanding customer experience overall.

Requirements

  • Strategic marketing expertise with a passion for thought leadership, content strategy, and omnichannel planning.
  • Exceptional storytelling skills—you know how to simplify the complex and craft messages that inform, engage, and inspire action.
  • Strong collaboration and influence, especially when navigating cross‑functional and matrixed environments.
  • A curious, insight‑driven mindset, particularly around retirement, healthcare, longevity, and financial well-being.
  • Experience managing complex content or promotional initiatives, ideally in financial services, insurance, or another regulated industry.
  • A natural ability to connect enterprise priorities with meaningful, audience‑centered marketing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or related field preferred.
  • Typically eight or more years related professional experience in marketing, strategy, consulting, financial services, or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of marketing methodologies, insurance and/or financial services products, distribution systems, and customers.
  • Knowledge of project leadership concepts and methodologies.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written skills needed to develop and review research studies, communicate research findings, market recommendations based on findings, and maintain relationships.
  • Ability to lead and prioritize projects.
  • Ability to function independently or in a team environment with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrates core marketing proficiencies, including strategy development, utilization of insights and analytics, building brand equity and developing effective marketing communications.
  • Skilled at customer focus, operating capabilities, personal effectiveness, and strategic capabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • FINRA Series 6 license required within 120 days of hire.
  • Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Technical financial services designations such as FINRA, CPCU, CLU, ChFC, FLMI considered a plus.
  • Additional licensing may be required to hold this position; and associates will need to acquire the required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to acquire required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead content strategy execution for a core NRI content pillar, translating thought leadership themes on healthcare costs and longevity into actionable content and activation plans.
  • Partner with NRI SMEs and stakeholders to shape narratives, refine messaging, and ensure complex topics are made clear, relevant, and impactful for target audiences.
  • Collaborate across NF Marketing Integration and enterprise teams (creative strategy, digital, social, PR, compliance) to align content, timelines, and channel execution.
  • Manage content and campaign workstreams, balancing multiple initiatives, timelines, and dependencies while maintaining high quality and brand alignment.
  • Apply performance insights and audience feedback to optimize content effectiveness and continuously improve future activations.
  • Serve as a trusted marketing consultant for NRI thought leadership initiatives, offering recommendations grounded in data, strategy, audience needs, and enterprise standards.
  • Assists in the development and execution of strategies and plans that ensure long term sustainable growth of the business.
  • Synthesizes data and uses this understanding to support identification and innovation of business building solutions
  • Leads projects and processes within area of responsibility to deliver results with multiple target completion dates and shifting priorities.
  • Implements digital and traditional marketing tactics and media, including creative development process, planning, and execution.
  • Collaborates on and/or may lead creative development, and provides feedback on look and feel.
  • Develops creative briefs.
  • Monitors emerging innovative trends in content, design and marketing tactics
  • Reviews and uses customer insights and analytics and tools to understand and forecast market, competitor and customer needs and behavior, define appropriate target audiences, evaluate sufficiency, and effectively get results with data-based decisions.
  • Ensures programs are on strategy and on schedule.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
