As a Consultant, Engineering or Geologist on our Irvine, CA team, you’ll support critical investigation and remediation work that directly contributes to cleaner communities, safer operations, and stronger environmental stewardship. Your expertise will help advance high‑impact projects while positioning you for long-term professional growth. What Your Impact Is In this role, you’ll be hands-on with the technical work that drives project success—collecting and analyzing data, supporting remediation design and implementation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and helping clients navigate complex environmental requirements. You’ll collaborate closely with ERM’s seasoned technical leaders and gain exposure to a wide range of service areas, including site investigations, M&A due diligence, sustainable operations, and more.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, civil, environmental engineering, or geology.
  • 2+ years of relevant environmental experience, including fieldwork.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification or willing to obtain one.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to record and interpret technical data.
  • Detail-oriented with mechanical aptitude and hands-on trouble-shooting / problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to Health & Safety protocols.
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of relevant environmental experience, including fieldwork.
  • EIT or GIT certification.
  • Experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports.
  • Familiarity working with regulatory agencies or subcontractors.
  • Local candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field activities including environmental sampling, drilling oversight, well installation, remedial pilot testing, construction oversight, and O&M of remedial systems.
  • Assist with monitoring of air, soil vapor, groundwater, and system performance.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret environmental data; contribute to technical reports.
  • Support preparation of environmental compliance plans, permits, and reports (air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, stormwater, wastewater).
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Work within defined scope, budget, quality, and schedule expectations.
  • Communicate and coordinate with subcontractors, regulators, tenants, and clients during project activities.
