This role is a Consultant in the Emerging Markets Implementation Team responsible for vetting, onboarding, and managing results and distribution relationships on emerging risk opportunities. This role reports to the Director of Program Underwriting in the Emerging Markets team. Emerging Markets is a specialized department within the Alternative Risk & Emerging Markets organization. The Emerging Markets team is focused on the exploration and discovery of emerging risks and unmet customer needs that are strategically aligned to generate new sources of revenue by leveraging traditional and non-traditional partnerships. We are focused on building and executing new products, risk transfer models, and/or distribution models to bring new revenue and learnings to Nationwide ESS. To be successful, you will need to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with customers, partners, vendors, E&S/S Executive team, leaders and staff, Product, Finance, Legal, P&C and Enterprise Innovation, Enterprise Ventures and Emerging Business Group, as well as other groups as needed. Additionally, you will manage the profit and loss statement (P&L) for the launched products in the portfolio ensuring profitability balanced with growth. You must be able to structure complex problems and develop creative solutions, take independent action, and adapt well to change. You will need to understand specific business dynamics, company context and strategy, and use this knowledge for problem-solving and to effectively communicate key messages to all audiences, regardless of medium, and deliver a high-quality work product that is supported by fact-based analysis and is in line with all commitments. As a Consultant, you'll be responsible for reviewing and analyzing numerous, highly complex lines of business. You'll underwrite individual risk for acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms and conditions. You'll lead in the development and integration of new and existing programs and identify new program opportunities. You will participate in making reinsurance decisions; assist in developing and implementing loss control and risk management strategies. You'll collaborate between business partners for development and implementation of program specific tools (i. e. underwriting guidelines, forms/rate filings, etc) for new programs or modifications to existing programs. You'll communicate program updates to program managers and other business liaisons. In order to succeed, you will need to build and maintain effective relationships with internal business liaisons, external program managers, and brokers. You will be responsible for the training and mentoring of underwriting team members.
