About The Position

You understand the power of great service experience and its ability to inspire customer behavior. You have a keen understanding of what it takes to deliver exceptional services, both in front of the house and behind the scenes. But most of all, you see all of this in the context of furthering our clients’ core mission or business. The issues to be resolved are often difficult to define and quantify; may involve complex, traditionally competing interests; are often characterized by senior leadership interest and visibility, and require extensive proving and analysis.

Requirements

  • Candidate should have the ability to: Execute customer research/stakeholder interviews, market research, data analysis, HCD workshopping, co-creation workshop facilitation, concept generation, ongoing multimedia storytelling, and transformation design sprints.
  • Analyze objective research data sets to focus on potential gaps and then design, plan, lead, and execute human-centered research and design sprint teams to test hypotheses, uncover latent needs, insights, and constraints.
  • Utilize a diverse range of best practice research methodologies for all phases of HCD research. Examples may include: in-context observations, ethnographic interviews, surveys, analogous research, data analytics, usability evaluations, workshops, etc.
  • Create client-ready deliverables from conception to presentation
  • Coordinate with project leadership on direction and progress of project activities
  • Work in a team environment, being open to others ideas and working collaboratively to produce well-rounded solutions/deliverables
  • Be flexible as project scope evolves

  • Be a strong critical thinker who sees the big picture while staying delivery-driven

  • Bachelor's degree in business, public policy, economics, political science, communications, planning, technology and policy, math, statistics, engineering, physical science, or related discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant, professional experience
  • Knowledge of Human-Centered Design/ Design Thinking, employee experience, customer experience, and/or service design
  • Curious, problem solving, and open-minded approach to work
  • Thrive in a continuous Build-Measure-Learn cycle
  • Engage with technology -- with comfort and ease (Power Point, Word, Excel, Teams, Monday, Slack, etc)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
  • Willingness to work on-site in the D.C. Metro area 1-2 times per week

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Human Centered Design, design thinking, and/or service design background
  • Experience Consulting for the Federal Government and/or Department of Defense

Responsibilities

  • Interacting with stakeholders to understand project needs, collect and synthesize data, and customize solutions
  • Developing a deep understanding of what the client is trying to accomplish and create strategies to solve multiple dimensions of a business problem
  • Creating client-ready deliverables with oversight including insights reports, toolkits, resources, and other project related client facing content
  • Developing quantitative and qualitative data collection tools and conduct data collection and data analysis
  • Scheduling, participating in, and taking notes in client facing meetings with key stakeholders and project executives
  • Collaborating with teammates to produce and present innovative solutions
  • Independently managing time to complete assigned tasks as part of the larger client engagement
