As a Data Engineer, your expertise will be pivotal in Nationwide’s journey towards becoming a World Class Underwriting Company. Your ability to interpret and leverage data will provide the insights necessary for our business to drive innovation and excel in the underwriting field. We’re seeking someone who: Excels in Data Analysis and Profiling: Has a strong ability in source to target mappings and data profiling. Governance & Quality: Enforce standards for data quality, lineage, and metadata management to ensure transparency and trust across stakeholders. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with data scientists, actuaries, product owners, and platform teams to translate business requirements into technical deliverables. Data Analysis and Modeling - Data profiling, Source to target Mapping, source to Target validations for data accuracy, Dashboarding capability awareness for showcasing Data accuracy Possesses Strong Technical Skills: Demonstrates programming skills for creating reusable coding frameworks using environment variables, parameters, and metadata. Has experience resolving data issues in the data pipeline. Is proficient in SQL, Python and/or PySpark, and has experience using Databricks or Spark, and the AWS or Azure ecosystems. Effectively Bridges the Gap: Communicates effectively with business stakeholders on requirements, data quality issues, and the utilization of data in the products produced by our team. Demonstrates Curiosity and Partnership: Shows a strong curiosity to understand data and its implications. This curiosity is not limited to technical aspects but extends to an organic partnership with the business to develop a deeper understanding over time. Experience creating streaming data would be considered a plus. You’ll also have the opportunity to guide others to leverage self-service techniques for business reporting and analytics.
