About The Position

WSP is seeking a Consultant to join their Climate, Resilience and Sustainability team. This full-time position involves analyzing climate and environmental data, utilizing geospatial tools for data visualization, and conducting research to define climate impacts on infrastructure and communities. The role requires collaboration with a diverse team of experts to develop resilience strategies and plans for clients facing climate-related hazards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience with data visualization of environmental data, particularly atmospheric data.
  • Experience with coding projects in Python and adapting scripts and programs.
  • Proficiency with Python libraries such as NumPy, xarray, and dask.
  • Familiarity with geospatial processing tools like GDAL, QGIS, and ArcGIS.
  • Proven capabilities for technical project delivery.
  • Experience communicating technical analysis to non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree in a related field.
  • Experience with climate data for hazard and impact analyses.
  • Experience analyzing impacts of climate-related hazards on infrastructure and communities.
  • Experience with high-performance computing and cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in version control systems like Git.

Responsibilities

  • Support analysis of climate and environmental data using geospatial tools.
  • Conduct research to define appropriate thresholds for climate impacts.
  • Provide quantitative analysis of exposure, vulnerability, risks, and resilience related to climate change.
  • Prepare documentation summarizing methodologies and results for various audiences.
  • Coordinate effectively with internal colleagues and external partners on multiple projects.
  • Contribute to advancing the Resilience Services Practice through data-driven analysis.
