About The Position

Baxter & Woodman, Inc. is seeking a Construction Technician or Engineer II for our Janesville or Waterford, WI offices. We are seeking a Construction Technician or Engineer II with 2+ years of experience who will support the firms construction group on a variety of projects ranging from roadways and bridges to underground installation and infrastructure construction.

Requirements

2+ years of experience working as a Construction Inspector or Technician on construction projects.
Effective communication, both oral and written, with residents, businesses and public agencies.
Ability to travel throughout the southeastern Wisconsin area (own transportation).
Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and test as needed.
Monitors progress schedule and shop drawing log.
General civil engineering and municipal client service.
Effective communication, both oral and written, with residents, businesses, and public agency representative.
Resolve construction conflicts and prepare cost-effective solutions.
Review pay requests and verify work completed.
Endeavor to provide protection for owner against defects and deficiencies in the work.
Serve as liaison with contractor, working principally through contractors superintendent.
Maintain job site records of Daily Reports, job meeting minutes, approved shop drawing submittals, and pay requests.
Maintain records of time, equipment, and material needs for any changes in the work that may result in a change order.
Review and request adjustments of compensation and/or contract time.
Observing, measuring and documenting construction activities.
Maintaining a daily log of construction activities.
Preparing payment estimates.
Addressing resident complaints and concerns.
Coordinating with the contractor and other duties as needed or assigned
