About The Position

Baxter & Woodman, Inc. is seeking a Construction Technician or Engineer II for our Janesville or Waterford, WI offices. We are seeking a Construction Technician or Engineer II with 2+ years of experience who will support the firms construction group on a variety of projects ranging from roadways and bridges to underground installation and infrastructure construction.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working as a Construction Inspector or Technician on construction projects.
  • Effective communication, both oral and written, with residents, businesses and public agencies.
  • Ability to travel throughout the southeastern Wisconsin area (own transportation).
  • Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and test as needed.
  • Monitors progress schedule and shop drawing log.
  • General civil engineering and municipal client service.
  • Effective communication, both oral and written, with residents, businesses, and public agency representative.
  • Resolve construction conflicts and prepare cost-effective solutions.
  • Review pay requests and verify work completed.
  • Endeavor to provide protection for owner against defects and deficiencies in the work.
  • Serve as liaison with contractor, working principally through contractors superintendent.
  • Maintain job site records of Daily Reports, job meeting minutes, approved shop drawing submittals, and pay requests.
  • Maintain records of time, equipment, and material needs for any changes in the work that may result in a change order.
  • Review and request adjustments of compensation and/or contract time.
  • Observing, measuring and documenting construction activities.
  • Maintaining a daily log of construction activities.
  • Preparing payment estimates.
  • Addressing resident complaints and concerns.
  • Coordinating with the contractor and other duties as needed or assigned
