The Field Office Engineer will be part of a construction management team supporting our clients’ projects seeing that the projects are constructed in accordance with the project plans and specifications and administering the construction contract. The Field Office Engineer will work closely with client Project Representatives, Stantec Resident Engineers, Stantec project CM teams, and contractor project staff; and will report to the Construction Manager. A thorough understanding of construction project documents, construction planning, scheduling, cost estimating, and quality and safety requirements is needed to successfully execute the work. Your Key Responsibilities Performs a variety of selected tasks/assignments to develop knowledge and skills within construction management. Familiar with relevant industry standards. Implements comments by reviews made by senior level team members. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned and starts to perform some activities of the succeeding level. Active engagement in the CM Community for opportunities to share and learn. Develops an understanding of Design Phase constructability and construction sequencing reviews Supports Construction Manager and project team during the Preconstruction Phase Assists CM team with documentation and use of productivity software for consistency and compliance with the project execution plan. With assistance from CM/RE, develops knowledge of contractor’s monthly pay requests based on daily reports and knowledge of actual work completed to date. Assures all required documentation is accurate and complete. Tracks the shop drawing submittals, Requests for Information and change management process, updating contract drawings and specifications accordingly. Support CM team with reviewing plans, specifications and shop drawings to identify and resolve with the Contractors and Engineer any potential problems. Supports RE in ensuring accurate field records are being maintained, such as daily reports, test reports, and as-built drawings. Develops an understanding of QA/QC compliance audits of projects. Documentation and closeout of Corrective Action/Preventative Actions Participates in project progress meetings and detailed note taking Supports the CM/RE in preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports. Supports CM/RE in ensuring that inspection documentation accurately and completely reports the work that has occurred and includes all items of non-conformance to the contract documents and all registered and approved change orders. Supports post-construction phase Assists CM/RE in the management, approval and transference of the Final Record Documents, reviewing cost estimates of potential change orders and reviewing of construction schedules. Applies established standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines to resolve routine issues and complete assigned tasks.
