About The Position

The Construction Support Manager collaborates with the Construction Leadership and Hotel Openings team to enhance New Development (ND) construction projects, including franchised and company-managed hotels. This role acts as an architectural and construction expert for IHG branded hotels, conducting on-site and virtual design and construction activities to ensure compliance with Brand Design Initiatives, franchise agreements, and brand standards. The manager offers construction expertise to IHG franchisees throughout all project phases, addressing design and construction issues to ensure timely project completion. They evaluate project progress as determined by Construction Leadership and mentor less experienced staff by providing technical guidance and training. Additionally, the manager provides feedback to management and the brand on product-related issues and improvement recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years work-related experience in construction management/construction administration.
  • Ability to consult on construction progress from onsite visits and 360 video/photo captures.
  • Project management experience in organizing, planning, and executing complex, large-scale projects.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of brand standards, Building Codes, Life Safety Requirements, and ADA Standards.
  • Ability to read blueprints and architectural specifications.
  • Ability to remain current with construction trends and code requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct progress site visits and review 360 photo/video captures provided by third parties.
  • Meet with owner's representatives during the construction phase to define project expectations and resolve design and construction issues.
  • Verify quality of installation, timely completion of construction, and conformance to brand standards and required codes.
  • Work with IHG Development team and ownership prior to presenting a deal to Franchise Approval Committee (FAC).
  • Escalate franchisee/owner waiver requests and timeline extension requests for construction-related issues.
  • Monitor construction/renovation milestones and communicate information to stakeholders.
  • Consult with franchisees, design professionals, contractors, and project managers to assist in the development of construction schedules.
  • Provide accurate reporting on project schedules and status of renovation or construction.
  • Manage an assigned territory and conduct onsite and virtual deployments from Construction Leadership.
  • Lead the enforcement of implementation of Brand Design program compliance.
  • Provide timely written follow-up associated with all site visits and communications with Licensee.
