About The Position

At Focal Pointe our Construction Superintendent manages every step of a construction project, from planning to completion. They oversee all project tasks. To ensure projects are delivered on time. As a superintendent, your job duties will also include allocating and monitoring budgets. This position will work under the direct supervision of Construction Branch Manager.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate with a diverse community.
  • Previous experience as a construction superintendent or in a similar role
  • Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites
  • In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Analytical and creative thinking
  • Proven ability to read plans and specifications required.
  • Ability to read and write
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • High school certificate, at a minimum.
  • At least 1O years of experience in construction project supervision.
  • At least 5 years of field experience.
  • Must possess at least a valid Class D Commercial Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting inspections and ensuring quality standards are met
  • Ensuring workers' safety and security
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, health, and quality standards
  • Purchasing equipment and materials
  • Collaborate with designers, subcontractors, etc. to determine project needs
  • Set performance goals and deadlines
  • Plan inspections and obtain construction permits from local authorities
  • Keep track of material stock and orders
  • Visits the site prior to the start of all projects to become familiar with each job site and its production requirements.
  • Communicates every day to track job progress and to resolve job issues by phone or in person with the Foreman on each job.
  • Monitors the progress of the project against the schedule and scope and works with the Foreman to take actions necessary to resolve project overruns.
  • Plan construction processes
  • Estimate costs and ensure the project is on budget
  • Transition project knowledge to Maintenance Team at closeout of project.
  • Ensure the job site remains safe, clean, and orderly
  • Performs a final walkthrough and ensures that all surplus and unused materials are returned from job sites to the warehouse when the project is finished.
  • Reviews all accident reports and follows-up according to company policy to the Branch Manager.
  • Ensures that the Foreman reports any malfunctioning or damaged tools, vehicles or equipment to the Warehouse and Equipment Superintendent
  • Attends the job site at start-up of each new project to review the project and project documentation with the Foreman
  • Stays up to date on current project schedule and reviews upcoming work daily with Project Administrator to ensure crews have the proper support, equipment, and materials for their upcoming work.
  • Monitors the use of equipment at jobsites, retrieves or arranges for retrieval of the equipment when no longer in use and supplies information to the Warehouse and Equipment Supervisor for record keeping.
  • Plans and executes the project mobilization to ensure that all required personnel, equipment and materials are available when needed.
  • Resolve on-site issues and emergencies
  • Travel up to 30% of the time within the Focal Pointe territory
  • Other duties as assigned.
