About The Position

Join BNSF Railway, one of the largest U.S. railroads, as a member of our Engineering Department. In this role, you will contribute to the construction, inspection, and maintenance of bridges and buildings, ensuring their structural integrity and safety. This full-time position requires on-call availability, overtime, and travel to job sites for extended periods. Training will be provided through company-paid on-the-job and classroom sessions, including travel to the BNSF Training Center.

Requirements

  • Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future.
  • 21 years old or older.
  • Must have valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or be able to obtain one within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Able to work safely in diverse and extreme weather conditions.
  • Able to work safely at heights and using fall protection equipment.
  • Able to work the required shifts/hours and meet travel requirements.
  • Able to read, write and communicate in English, and issue and act on oral instructions clearly and accurately.
  • Able to stoop, bend, walk on uneven surfaces; walk, stand, bend, lift, sit for extended time.
  • Able to use hands, hand tools, and power tools to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 90 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction, maintenance, and repair of railroad bridges, tunnels, culverts, and other structures.
  • Repair timber bridges, trestles, and tunnel supports, and repair/replace structural steel members of bridges.
  • Place and finish concrete surfaces and perform conventional carpentry work.
  • Read blueprints to determine required materials and dimensions, lay out work, and mark cutting and assembly lines.
  • Assemble, cut, shape materials, fasten with appropriate fasteners, rig materials for hoisting, and operate company vehicles as directed.
