About The Position

A Welder Construction Specialist is a skilled professional responsible for joining metal parts using a variety of welding techniques. They play a crucial role in the construction industry, working on structures such as buildings, bridges, and pipelines. This position requires a deep understanding of welding processes, safety protocols, and construction standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a formal welding training program or apprenticeship
Several years of experience in welding, preferably in the construction industry
Proficiency in various welding techniques and the ability to work with different types of metals
Strong understanding of welding symbols, blueprints, and technical specifications
Attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality work
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment
Comfortable working in various outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures and weather
Ability to stand, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
Must be able to pass a background check
Must be able to pass a physical and drug screening

Responsibilities

Perform welding tasks using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-cored arc welding.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine the welding requirements.
Read survey plans and transport elevations with the transit theodolite.
Prepare and align metal parts before welding to ensure precise and accurate welds.
Fabricate and assemble metal structures and components according to specifications and project requirements.
Organize and direct employees during the construction process.
Inspect welded joints and structures to ensure they meet industry standards and project specifications.
Identify and repair any defects or imperfections in the welds.
Maintain detailed records of welding activities, including the types of welds performed, materials used, and any issues encountered.
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, and safety glasses.
Ensure welding equipment is properly maintained and in safe working condition.
Comply with local, state, and federal regulations regarding welding and construction practices.
