About The Position

The Construction Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and supervision of new home construction projects for Habitat for Humanity. This position ensures that all work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with Habitat's quality standards. The ideal candidate is a competent carpenter with strong leadership and communication skills who can effectively oversee subcontractors, guide volunteers, and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in residential new construction, framing, and finish carpentry.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and building codes.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades on site.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety practices and OSHA standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to teach and motivate volunteers with varying levels of experience.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity or experience with modular construction is a strong plus.
  • Experience with affordable housing or nonprofit construction.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, email, scheduling tools).
  • NYS OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety training certification.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all on-site activities for new single-family home construction projects.
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors to ensure work meets plans, specifications, and code requirements.
  • Perform skilled carpentry and hands-on construction tasks as needed to maintain progress and quality.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage daily work activities to align with project timelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work site, ensuring compliance with OSHA and Habitat safety standards.
  • Train, supervise, and engage volunteers and Habitat homebuyers on the job site, providing instruction and encouragement regardless of skill level.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, inspectors, and vendors to support smooth operations.
  • Track material usage, report progress, and support budget management.
  • Uphold Habitat's mission and values in all interactions with staff, volunteers, homeowners, and the community.
