About The Position

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior Scheduler I or II to join our Solar group with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Senior Scheduling Engineer will provide oversight of all planning and scheduling activities.   Do you thrive on the details of a project? In this role you’ll dive into proposals and contracts to produce effective and well-thought-out project plans, identify risks, and planning for the unexpected.   This position offers opportunities at both levels 1 and 2, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this role is determined based on factors such as experience and location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent field
  • Experience with Asta Power Project, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project (Asta highly preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of scheduling concepts, principles, practices, and company software
  • Basic knowledge of standard construction practices, project sequencing, project management, contracts, and buyout
  • Ability to exercise creativity and mature judgment in solving problems
  • Basic plan and specification reading, review, and interpretation skills
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, collaborative, team-based environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with initiative to seek innovative solutions
  • Results-oriented to ensure delivery of accurate, complete, and timely products and services
  • Active listening skills and effective communication, open to diverse input and feedback
  • Ability to travel may be required based on operating group
  • Working knowledge of 4D visual planning methodologies
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Minimum of four years construction experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience as a project engineer is desirable
  • The base pay range for this role is $102,000 - $137,700
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of six years construction experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience as an assistant project manager or assistant superintendent is desirable
  • The base pay range for this role is $107,200 - $160,800

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate site teams and trade partners in developing project schedules using CPM scheduling programs
  • Support group leadership by monitoring and updating project schedules on multiple or larger projects
  • Explore mitigation options and assist site management in formulating mitigation plans for scheduling problems
  • Lead or instruct less experienced individuals in planning and scheduling concepts
  • Collaborate with Business Development on proposals, leading project pursuit strategy regarding schedules
  • Participate in corporate planning and scheduling improvement initiatives and best practice sharing
  • Build relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
  • Provide oversight of all planning and scheduling activities
  • Plan, coordinate, supervise, and direct planning and scheduling activities
  • Ensure that corporate planning and schedule stands are implemented and that all project related activities comply
  • Provide oversight and supervision of scheduling team
  • Coach, mentor, and train field personnel, forepersons, and assistant superintendents
  • Establish and nurture teamwork environment
  • Ensure crews have resources and support
  • Provide work direction and performance evaluations
  • Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions if needed
  • Develop leadership potential through appropriate task assignments and career growth opportunities
  • Implement Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety Program at project site
  • Manage open shop and union issues
  • Maintain relationships with all visitors to the site:  customers, architects, union representatives, subcontractors, et al.
  • Manage site work and logistics efficiently, providing suggestions for improvement
  • Other duties as assigned
