Construction Safety Specialist

About the position

As Construction Safety Professionals at CMI, we prioritize the implementation of best practices, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, and cultivating a culture of safety enhancement on targeted construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, educate, and train staff on safety protocols
• Foster a positive safety culture within the team
• Attend safety meetings as required, at varying frequencies
• Conduct on-site observations and recommend safety work practices
• Facilitate pre-task planning, audits, job safety analyses (JSAs), and permit processes
• Conduct site-specific orientations, training classes, and toolbox talks
• Generate reports as needed by the job site

Requirements

• Minimum of 10+ years of direct construction safety oversight experience
• Minimum of 5 years of safety management and leadership experience
• Pharma/Lifesciences experience highly preferred
• Comprehensive understanding of Construction Safety Standards (1926)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Proven ability to collaborate with teams across all organizational levels
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software applications

Nice-to-haves

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety is preferred
• BCSP credentials such as STS-C, CHST or CSP highly preferred
• OSHA 510 or 500
