About The Position

Construction Safety Manager We are seeking an exceptionally qualified Construction Safety Manager to assume a key role across our business enterprise. This individual will bring extensive expertise in electrical safety programs, including building electrical, Utility Electric Transmission and Distribution (T&D), including Substation construction and maintenance; Renewable Construction (EPC Focus in all areas: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Commissioning; Self-Perform Concrete operations, Fencing installation, and related civil work, and General Contracting. Ideal Candidate Profile: The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting company assets and employees by reducing risk exposure, strengthening safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving measurable safety performance across all divisions. The Enterprise Safety Manager will partner with Executive Leadership, Division Leadership, Operations, Project/Construction Management, Superintendents, and craft personnel to embed safety into planning, execution, and performance management. Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of progressive safety leadership experience preferred in a union environment.
  • Utility Electrical T&D and/or substation operations
  • Self-perform structural concrete and/or civil construction
  • Electrical (Hospital, Data Centers, Industrial, and others)
  • Renewable Construction (Solar, EV Charging, Battery Storage)
  • General Contracting
  • Strong knowledge of electrical hazard controls and utility safety standards.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards
  • Core competency in Electrical Safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Demonstrated ability to influence field leadership and craft personnel.
  • Strong investigation, analytical, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors on active construction and utility job sites.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally and occasionally overnight.
  • OSHA 30 (minimum)
  • Electric T&D 10 and Substation safety certification or documented training
  • NFPA 70E
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Industrial Hygiene.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional safety credential(s): CSP, ASP, CHST.
  • Experience in union and contractor-heavy environments.
  • Familiarity with contractor compliance platforms and client safety programs.
  • Experience leading enterprise-level safety management systems and leading-indicator programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide safety and health programs supporting Divisional Leadership with an overall enterprise focus.
  • Prepare and update written safety policies and procedures aligned with regulatory and client requirements.
  • Establish with leadership annual company safety goals and measurable performance objectives.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and ensure compliance with: OSHA NFPA 70E NESC DOT (with Fleet Manager) Others as needed or assigned
  • Develop and review project-specific safety plans for each division.
  • Maintain corporate safety library and regulatory resources.
  • Lead quarterly safety meetings and the monthly Safety Committee Meeting
  • Drive enterprise-wide safety initiatives as assigned by Executive Leadership.
  • Lead and sustain safety programs supporting: Renewable Utility Electric T&D operations and Substation construction/maintenance Building Electrical Self-perform concrete (forming, reinforcing, placement, finishing) Fencing installation (commercial, industrial, and utility environments)
  • Maintain consistent field presence through jobsite visits, audits, and behavioral observations.
  • Oversee contractor safety compliance where applicable.
  • Support and verify hazard controls related to: Electrical & Utility Hazards Energized work practices: Switching and clearance coordination; Lockout/Tagout (LOTO); Grounding requirements; Minimum approach distances; Arc flash risk mitigation; PPE compliance Concrete & Civil Hazards Excavation and trenching safety; Rebar impalement protection; Formwork stability and shoring systems; Heavy equipment interaction; Silica exposure controls; Rigging and lifting operations; Concrete pump and placement hazards and any others. Fencing & Site Access Hazards Post-driving and auguring operations; Equipment rollover and struck-by hazards; Work near roadways and traffic control; Work near energized utility corridors; Manual material handling and ergonomic risks;
  • Monitor compliance with daily THAs/JHAs/JSAs, stretch & flex, and weekly toolbox talks;
  • Supervise PPE inventory and ensure appropriate task-specific PPE is issued and used.
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations across all divisions.
  • Conduct Apparent Cause and Root Cause Evaluations.
  • Implement and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Monitor lost-time injuries, illnesses, and workers’ compensation claims.
  • Analyze trends across utility, concrete, and fencing work to identify systemic risks.
  • Communicate lessons learned enterprise-wide.
  • Identify enterprise safety training needs across multiple disciplines.
  • Create and ensure all new hire safety onboarding is conducted for all craft employees
  • Delivery of cyclical training
  • Provide specialized training in: Electrical safety (NFPA 70E, approach boundaries) Excavation and trenching Silica awareness Rigging & signaling Heavy equipment safety
  • Develop and deliver tailboards, toolbox talks, and job briefings.
  • Support qualification and competency verification programs.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety documentation, including OSHA 300 logs.
  • Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics: TRIR DART Near-miss reporting Audit scores Leading indicators
  • Prepare executive-level safety performance reports.
  • Support client audits, contractor prequalification systems (ISNetworld, Avetta, etc.), and safety portals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.
  • Other Duties as assigned
