Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) in the State of Rhode Island is required
  • 10+ years of direct experience in managing complex Construction Projects, preferably design build
  • Knowledge of RIDOT Standard Specifications and Standard Details
  • Considerable knowledge of roadway, structure, traffic engineering, construction methods, procedures practice, plans specifications and contracts, materials used and performance and environmental regulations
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work weekends, nights, and swing shifts as required on assigned projects
  • A valid Driver's License is required

Responsibilities

  • Management of construction project to assure the Contractors compliance with contract documents
  • Supervision of office and field staff
  • Reviews project activities with client and contractor's field supervision to resolve disputes and other project issues
  • Assist RIDOT with analysis and negotiation of extra work items
  • Management of Transportation Management Plan and work zone safety
  • Project inspection and contract administration under the direction of the RIDOT Area Construction Engineer and the Project Manager
  • Coordination with adjacent construction projects
  • Other duties as assigned
