Stantec is seeking a safety-focused leader with construction field experience to oversee field engineering and construction quality control (QA/QC) on a mine remediation project near Spokane, Washington. This person will work onsite daily, directing a team that verifies that construction meets design specifications while working alongside the client and various contractors. This is a full-time onsite role with a minimum 2-year commitment, with potential to extend beyond. Qualified candidates will have relevant field experience and a degree in engineering or geology; an associate’s degree with strong surveying skills; a professional surveying license; or comparable, relevant work experience meeting job requirements. These roles include leadership, daily interaction with the client, and seeing years of geotechnical engineering and mine reclamation design implemented. Work shift is 4 days per week working 10-hour shifts plus a one-hour drive each way for a total of 48 hours per week.

  • Identify problems, deficiencies, and design deviations, and develop potential courses of action to address these issues.
  • Communicate and articulate issues to the client, construction contractor, and Stantec leadership.
  • Lead and attend daily, weekly, and monthly meetings.
  • Create and maintain a high-functioning safety culture, tracking compliance with safe work practices.
  • Use and master an array of field equipment, including Trimble survey equipment, portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, and electronic density gauge.
  • Contribute to design solutions, as-built construction records, and other field engineering activities utilizing AutoCAD Civil3D and Trimble Business Center software.
  • Plan, coordinate, direct, and execute Stantec CQA field team activities and documentation.
  • Review and respond to technical memoranda, requests for information (RFIs), and detailed as-built reports.
  • Provide supervision and direction for various QA activities including sample collection, gradation analyses, material density testing, and surveying.
  • Interact daily with client management, engineering, and field staff to plan and execute field engineering and CQA activities.
  • Relevant field experience in construction and engineering.
  • Degree in engineering or geology; an associate’s degree with strong surveying skills; or a professional surveying license.
  • Strong leadership skills and a proven track record of leading by example.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented in both verbal and written communication, data collection, and data review.
  • Ability to work on multiple project tasks and deliverables simultaneously.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER and supervisor training.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D and Trimble Business Center software.
