About The Position

GFT is seeking a Construction Project Manager to join our Construction Services team. This role is responsible for leading and managing Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) projects, ensuring quality delivery, regulatory compliance, and strong client relationships. The position supports complex transportation projects while ensuring adherence to applicable federal, state, and local requirements. The preferred location for this position is Houston, Texas. What you’ll be challenged to do: The Construction Project Manager reports to the Transportation Construction Service Lead in Texas and partners closely with Construction Managers, CEI staff, and Business Development to ensure project obligations are met and successful outcomes are achieved for clients. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in transportation engineering, construction engineering, or related field
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in the State of Texas
  • Experience working with municipal and/or local government clients
  • Demonstrated experience in construction and contract management

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all phases of CEI projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout
  • Manage CEI project teams, ensuring quality, compliance, and adherence to required specifications, procedures, and the governing Project Manual
  • Oversee and coordinate field inspection, documentation, and project controls activities
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the client, contractors, subconsultants, and internal project teams
  • Monitor project performance, budgets, and schedules; implement corrective actions to ensure successful delivery
  • Manage and review project documentation, reporting, pay estimates, change orders, and closeout materials in accordance with the client and company requirements
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate CEI field staff, inspectors, and record keepers, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and accountability
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Oversee and schedule CEI and Construction Management & Testing (CMT) activities across multiple projects
  • Evaluate project issues and develop solutions to address deficiencies, risks, or constructability challenges
  • Participate in progress meetings, constructability reviews, and issue-resolution discussions
  • Ensure adherence to governing set-aside programs, and other compliance programs
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal development, client presentations, and pursuit strategies
  • Manage Construction Services equipment inventory and maintenance
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned
