About The Position

MBP is seeking new Team Members for growth opportunities and to work on meaningful projects in a higher education school environment to assist with the planning, design, and construction for a mix of higher education, academic, and campus infrastructure projects. For this position, we seek candidates in the Baltimore, Maryland, area with 10 or more years of combined education and/or experience that demonstrates advanced knowledge and experience in construction project management; construction management at-risk (CMAR); design and constructability review; project planning; QA/QC field inspection and management; project controls including scheduling and cost estimating; and project close-out including commissioning, acceptance, and building turnover to operations support. A Project Manager I will assist other Project Management staff in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering complexities, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guidelines for diverse engineering activities. Evidence of progressive career development within the construction industry.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of combined education and/or experience in construction project management.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in construction management at-risk (CMAR), design and constructability review, project planning, QA/QC field inspection and management, project controls including scheduling and cost estimating, and project close-out including commissioning, acceptance, and building turnover to operations support.
  • Expertise with MBP's diverse services.
  • Direct client contact and client care.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to analyze and optimize internal and external processes.
  • Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Owner’s Project Management staff in managing a project’s overall effort for the client, including assisting in managing a team and coordinating the work of various project entities (designer, contractor, owner personnel).
  • Assists in preparation, monitoring, and managing client project budgets and internal budgets.
  • Analyzes and optimizes internal and external processes.
  • Maintains positive and productive working relationships with peer leaders, superiors, and subordinates.
  • Provide on-site owner’s representation and on-site staff augmentation support on tasks as assigned.
  • Conducts site visits, identifies potential engineering problems, and proposes solutions and alternatives.
  • Provides subject matter technical engineering expertise and supports and assists in reviewing technical work on assigned projects.
  • Monitors progress, utilization and quality of work produced as assigned.
  • Helps to manage, direct, and coordinate the work of assigned staff.
  • Assists with mentoring and facilitating the imparting of technical knowledge to staff, including the transfer of technical knowledge from the more senior personnel to those with less experience.
  • Adjusts workload to changes and work to meet deadlines.
  • Engages in business development, participates in marketing activities, actively participates in company initiatives, and assists in providing project management on small to mid-size projects.
  • Helps to prepare, monitor, and manage the client’s project budgets.
  • Works closely with project accountant to manage individual multipliers, utilization forecasts and project margins.
  • Attends and participates in professional association meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of civil engineering.
  • Other duties as assigned.
