The Construction Project Manager at Tesla will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing construction projects from the initial installation phase through to the start of production. This position requires close collaboration with various departments including project management, infrastructure engineering, manufacturing engineering, project controls, and procurement. The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for supervising all on-site construction activities, which includes scheduling trade contractors, managing vendor tool installations, and resolving day-to-day construction issues. Additionally, the role involves performing regular inspections to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications while diligently tracking the project schedule and budget. In this role, the Construction Project Manager will be expected to successfully deliver large-scale design-build and self-performed construction projects, ensuring that they are completed on time or ahead of schedule. The manager will foster a culture of safety and quality across the project and the company, utilizing effective communication methods to escalate roadblocks or share successes. A proactive approach is essential, as the manager will need to engage all stakeholders and align them with the project's goals. The focus will be on delivering the best product for the project's customers or end users, while continuously addressing and resolving any concerns that may arise during the project lifecycle. Furthermore, the Construction Project Manager will be tasked with tracking and understanding all project costs at a fundamental level. This includes challenging design revisions, Requests for Information (RFIs), and change orders to ensure that Tesla receives optimal value from its projects.
