About The Position

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Manager I to lead projects with professionalism, flexibility, and resourcefulness in a dynamic environment. This role involves managing project quality, timeliness, and safety, mentoring the project team, and developing strong customer relationships through excellent service and communication skills. This is a travel position with the ability to be full-time on a project site in the Midwest region. Mortenson offers competitive traveler benefits for projects away from regional office locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum six years of related previous experience
  • Proven ability to assist with all responsibilities for complex projects
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
  • Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
  • Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
  • Current driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in one or more of the following: commercial construction, renewable energy project development, EPC contracting, or emerging technologies

Responsibilities

  • Manage overall financial health of projects
  • Support and lead EPC contract negotiations, including technical exhibits and project schedules
  • Lead vendor procurement and bid/award phase for major subs and suppliers
  • Develop and maintain project financial and equipment projections
  • Allocate project estimate into financial system, determine cost codes, approve invoices
  • Provide financials and billings to accounting, create monthly owner billings
  • Manage subcontracts and suppliers, oversee budget and selections of trade partners
  • Handle billings, contract management, and change orders
  • Manage and develop Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, approve timecards, provide feedback
