About The Position

Turner & Townsend Heery are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Airports / Aviation to support our major aviation clients. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have excellent communication skills, be able to take the initiative and drive activities with limited supervision. Requires 100% on site

Requirements

  • Relevant Aviation Project Experience contributing to or leading the architectural design and coordination of aviation or transportation-related capital projects preferrable.
  • Experience supporting or managing design consultant contracts and scopes of work, including coordination with external design partners.
  • Strong ability to follow through on design commitments, ensuring alignment with project goals, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Collaboration with the ability to work effectively within a design team, contributing to a positive and productive team culture while supporting junior staff as needed.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering major aviation or transportation-related capital projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety, quality, and design standards.
  • Familiarity with integrated project delivery (IPD) or similar collaborative project environments, multidisciplinary stakeholders including airport authorities, consultants, and contractors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design ideas and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Master’s Degree in architecture, engineering, computer science, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Individuals with over 5 years of experience in the management of aviation related projects and facilities in airport environments preferrable.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification, Program Management certification preferred.
  • Registration as Architect or Engineer is preferrable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural design process for aviation-related capital projects, ensuring alignment with program goals, airport standards, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Design Management to oversee and coordinate the work of internal and external design teams, including architects, engineers, and consultants, to ensure cohesive and high-quality design outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with airport authorities, airline representatives, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders throughout all project phases to gather input, present design concepts, and secure approvals.
  • Program integration to ensure architectural design solutions are fully integrated with broader capital improvement program objectives, including operational efficiency, passenger experience, and sustainability goals.
  • Regulatory Compliance to ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, ADA requirements, and airport-specific design guidelines.
  • Manage the preparation and quality control of design documentation deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and presentation materials.
  • Project coordination with project managers, construction teams, and consultants to align design intent with budget, schedule, and constructability considerations.
  • Lead internal and external design reviews, ensuring adherence to quality standards and design excellence throughout all phases.
  • Change management to evaluate and manage design changes, ensuring impacts to scope, cost, and schedule are clearly communicated and documented.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve Project Management procedures, templates and products referring ideas to the appropriate line manager.
  • Establishing effective project governance, processes and systems to be utilized throughout project.
  • General line management responsibilities (where appropriate) are effectively discharged.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
