About The Position

The Construction Planner I at Cox Communications plays a crucial role in the Outside Plant Engineering & Construction department, responsible for managing and facilitating network construction activities. This position ensures that all construction projects are completed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with company specifications and local regulations. The Planner I interacts with various stakeholders, including co-workers, customers, and utility entities, to coordinate project tasks and maintain project timelines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Up to 2 years of experience in a related field such as Engineering, Construction, or Project Management.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent technical skills in work coordination and cost estimation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop project planning and execution skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in construction planning or network maintenance.
  • Project Management experience or certification.
  • Understanding of HFC cable system design (fiber/coax).
  • Knowledge of network powering concepts and general construction practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and own the completion of various project types including coax/fiber extensions and maintenance projects.
  • Coordinate and manage end-to-end planning and execution of construction tasks.
  • Facilitate communication of project status updates and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Cox specifications and local municipal requirements for construction builds.
  • Coordinate permit applications and utility pole management in adherence to local codes.
  • Establish and manage capital and operating expenses for construction projects.
  • Perform site surveys and quality control for proposed construction projects.
  • Manage customer interactions and coordinate access for contract labor.
  • Prepare and distribute contractor work and necessary permits.
  • Negotiate and approve design or construction changes with contractors and customers.
  • Coordinate with public works personnel and utilities on project execution.
  • Update stakeholders on project timelines and status revisions.
  • Estimate construction costs and manage project budgets and expenses.
  • Inspect construction work and coordinate inspection assignments.
