About The Position

Thalle Construction Co. Inc. ('Thalle') is seeking a Pipelayer. The Pipelayer will work closely with and support the operations team, interact with a variety of staff at all levels and uphold a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position is located in Charlottesville, Virginia. Thalle, established in 1947, is a heavy civil construction company with a corporate office in Hillsborough, NC, and a regional office in Alvarado, Texas. Thalle has construction projects throughout the Southeast, Texas, and New Jersey with growth nationwide. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not mandatory
  • Ability to receive written or oral instructions
  • Basic knowledge of working with all types of drainage pipe
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with field and office personnel
  • Must be committed to contributing to a culture of safety, looking out for yourself and others

Responsibilities

  • Use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, or transit levels
  • Cut, connect, and prepare pipe pieces and seal joints
  • Use welding equipment, cement, or glue
  • Install, inspect, repair sanitary or stormwater sewer structures or pipe systems
  • Check slopes and pipe routes to ensure they match blueprints
  • Determine presence of obstructions
  • Operates hand or power tools
  • Dig trenches with trenching tools
  • Cover pipes with dirt or other material
  • Must be willing to complete manual labor
  • Conduct work with 100% integrity and professionalism
  • Knowledgeable in pipe survey equipment
