About The Position

The Construction Modularization Manager is responsible for defining, developing, and executing the modularization strategy for major onshore energy facility projects. This role ensures modular design, fabrication, logistics, and site‑installation activities are fully integrated across engineering, procurement, construction, supply chain, and commissioning workstreams. Unlike a traditional construction management role, this position focuses on enterprise-level modular execution, maximizing offsite fabrication, driving standardization, reducing field labor, and improving safety, quality, cost, and schedule outcomes across the full EPC lifecycle—from early concept through mechanical completion. This role provides leadership, governance, and technical expertise to establish optimal modularization approaches, oversee fabrication yard interfaces, manage logistics constraints, and ensure seamless delivery of modules to site. It serves as the primary owner of the modularization philosophy, execution framework, and risk mitigation strategy for the project or portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Mechanical/Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline (Master of Science degree preferred).
  • 10–15 years of experience in large capital project construction, modularization, or fabrication yard management for onshore energy, petrochemical, LNG, refining, or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Strong understanding of EPC contracting models, fabrication yard operations, logistics/heavy transport, and construction methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing modularization strategies (structural, pipe racks, process modules, electrical/instrument modules, building modules, etc.).
  • Proficiency with 3D model review tools, BIM methodologies, lifting/rigging plans, and modular construction design principles.
  • Knowledge of industry codes/standards, HSE practices, and quality management for modular fabrication and installation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross‑functional coordination skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the overall modularization execution strategy for the onshore energy plant project, aligning with project objectives and EPC delivery models.
  • Define modular philosophy, scope split, module types, limits of modularization, and constructability-driven design criteria.
  • Establish governance processes, modular execution frameworks, WBS structures, reporting frameworks, and interface management practices.
  • Develop and maintain a modularization roadmap covering design, procurement, fabrication, logistics, and site assembly.
  • Lead early constructability reviews to influence plot plan optimization, module envelope design, lifting/transport allowances, and stick‑built vs. modular cutover points.
  • Ensure engineering teams incorporate modular design requirements (e.g., module interface points, tolerances, tie-ins, transport width/height limits).
  • Ensure module fabrication readiness, material availability, staffing, sequencing, and yard layout optimization.
  • Lead logistics strategy including heavy-haul transport, SPMT compatibility, route surveys, shipping configuration, port constraints, permitting, and weather or seasonal risks.
  • Develop and oversee transport plans, marine logistics plans, and contingency measures for module delivery to site.
  • Define site installation strategy including laydown planning, site civil preparation, module setting plans, and interface alignment.
  • Coordinate with construction teams for module placement sequencing, crane strategy, lifting studies, and hookup plans.
  • Ensure safety‑driven execution with minimized work-at-height and minimized field labor exposure.
  • Develop cost models comparing stick-built vs. modularized scenarios; recommend optimal levels of modularization based on quantitative analysis.
  • Create modular fabrication and transport schedules; integrate with overall project schedule.
  • Conduct modularization risk assessments including logistics risks, yard readiness, weather impacts, steel availability, crane limitations, and vendor supply chain disruptions.
  • Lead resolution and escalation of modularization-related issues across engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction.
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, fabrication yard benchmarking, and standard module designs.
  • Promote use of digital tools (4D/5D BIM, digital weld tracking, IoT-enabled fabrication monitoring, reality capture).
  • Support development of modular execution playbooks, standards, KPIs, and productivity benchmarks for future projects.
  • Provide modularization leadership and guidance to engineering managers, construction managers, project managers, fabrication yard teams, and logistics professionals.
  • Ensure all stakeholders understand modular execution requirements, constraints, and responsibilities.
  • Present strategic modularization insights to executive leadership and project directors.
