About The Position

AECOM Hunt has an exciting opportunity on our team for a Construction MEP Project Manager within the Quality Construction group in support of our highly complex project in Chicago, IL. The MEP Project/Quality Manager is an expert in mechanical systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression and fire alarm) building codes, and construction principles. You will interact with owners, Architects, Engineers, construction team and trades people from preconstruction to project closeout providing suggestions and recommendations, as a technical resource to the project team. You are committed to creating a culture of continuous improvement in your work and professional development. Prioritized training and mentoring by our Quality Assurance/Control team is available.

Requirements

  • BS Engineering, Construction Management or similar curriculum and 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license to access client property and travel to various property site locations.
  • Construction field positions require physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to climb ladders and stairs, use personnel hoists, and move through various terrain and active construction zones.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Team members must be capable of using their hands to handle tools and materials, and perform activities such as sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Individuals in construction field roles work primarily on active job sites where exposure to environmental and job-related hazards is common, with or without accommodation. These environments may include proximity to heavy machinery, elevated work areas, airborne particles, varying weather conditions, and potential electrical risks. Noise levels may vary from moderate to high depending on the phase of construction. Employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and must remain alert to ensure safety.

  • able to learn to provide a practical understanding of why things go wrong in the design and construction phases and the ability to direct the project team as needed.
  • Ability to build and maintain both internal and external relationships including team members, subcontractors, stakeholders and others.
  • Able to research, learn quickly, and communicate knowledge amongst the team, stakeholders and other parties.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar software.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in MEP, mega-construction, mechanical engineering or building commissioning.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
  • BCxP (ASHRAE Certified Building Commissioning Professional), CQM-C (USACE) or similar certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical design review feedback on constructability, sequencing and industry best practice procedures
  • Conduct regular field reviews, document findings and guide corrective action.
  • Serve as a quality liaison between project team and trade contractors, facilitating coordination and consistency across quality control activities
  • Review technical processes, providing a strong background in construction/mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Promote clear communication and collaborative problem-solving with internal and external relationships to influence outcomes, resolving issues while driving a culture of quality and accountability.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by mentoring teams, sharing technical knowledge while modeling best practices by staying current on industry trends and promote professional development to elevate quality standards across all phases of a project.
