As a Construction Materials Testing Field Technician, you will be responsible for conducting on-site testing of concrete, soils, and other construction materials. You will utilize a company-provided vehicle to travel to various job sites within the area. We offer comprehensive on-the-job training, as well as the possibility of obtaining future certifications in construction materials testing.   • Ensure that all testing equipment used is functioning properly, maintained as required by company and/or manufacturer's policy, and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle.
  • Ensure that project testing requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements, and company policies or procedures.
  • Travel to various job sites in a company-provided vehicle to perform sampling and testing on construction materials, such as concrete, soils and asphalt.
  • Return samples to the office for testing.
  • Report data in an accurate, complete, timely, and understandable fashion in accordance with applicable testing procedures.
  • Operate testing equipment; ensure that all test equipment used is functioning properly and maintained as required by the company and/or manufacturer's policy and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle.
  • Operate a motor vehicle; maintain company vehicle (schedule oil changes, check fluid levels, inside/outside upkeep).
  • Communicate with dispatching and/or field supervisor, advising of current job status and locations as required; cellular phones are to be worn at all times, and calls are to be returned immediately.
  • Regular attendance is required; technicians must arrive on time for scheduled jobs.
  • Prepare testing reports using Field Data Collection (FDC) software; ability to write and retrieve emails using Microsoft Outlook.
  • Complete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policy.
  • Turn in required paperwork daily.
  • Must be flexible to changing schedules and hours to support business needs; overnight and weekends schedules may be necessary to support business needs.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and policies.
  • You must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
  • You will need a valid driver's license with an acceptable record.
  • Working with concrete will require you to have the ability to lift 50-75 pounds repeatedly with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients.
  • Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports.
  • Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form.
  • American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certifications in field testing.
  • Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Construction Training Qualification Program (CTQP) certifications in field testing.
  • Construction and/or engineering experience.
