About The Position

The Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory Supervisor II is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and training laboratory and field construction materials testing technicians. This role involves directing crews in the field, ensuring accurate logging of samples and tests, and assisting in site coordination of testing services on construction sites. The supervisor will also perform inspections, conduct laboratory testing, and oversee the maintenance of testing equipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in construction materials field and laboratory testing, with two (2) years in supervision.
• Four (4) or more certifications such as ACI Field Grade 1 Technician, ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician, and others.
• Extensive knowledge of materials used in highway, bridge, and aviation construction.
• Thorough knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and methods.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate work activities effectively.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Preferred).
• Experience in construction (8 years preferred).
• Valid Texas driver's license (Preferred).
• ACI Certification (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate laboratory and field construction materials testing technicians.
• Conduct and supervise plant inspections and laboratory testing operations.
• Evaluate test data and perform statistical analysis on data sets.
• Prepare and process reports and assist with administrative duties.
• Perform operational walk-throughs and competency testing.
• Check time records of technicians for accuracy and approval.
• Oversee routine maintenance of laboratory and field testing equipment.
• Conduct performance reviews of assigned technicians and provide training.
• Review project plans and specifications to prepare test scope.
• Maintain safe utilization and storage of all documents and tools.
