As a Construction Materials Engineer , you are vital in guaranteeing the integrity and safety of construction endeavors by evaluating and confirming the characteristics and quality of materials used. Working under the supervision of a Licensed Engineer, you will coordinate field explorations, field logging of soil samples, perform engineering calculations/design, prepare proposals and reports, and provide project and client support. We are looking for someone who is naturally curious, detail‑oriented, and motivated to learn within a collaborative engineering environment. Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a similar engineering field
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt
  • Certifications/Licensure: Engineering-in-Training (EIT) license and on track to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
  • Key Competencies: Basic math and communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
  • Working Conditions and Physical Demands: This role involves hands-on work in outdoor environments, and with Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), you'll need to be comfortable with: Working outdoors in varying weather conditions Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day) Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment) Working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs arise

Responsibilities

  • Testing construction materials: Perform tests and oversee special inspections of materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and others to ensure they meet project specifications and industry standards.
  • Analyzing construction plans and specifications: Verify that they align with project goals before conducting field observations.
  • Recording and managing field activities: Document detailed observations and test results during project execution, using Metafield® or other management systems daily for efficient data handling and coordination.
  • Preparing reports and proposals: Help draft reports and proposals for smaller projects, ensuring thorough and accurate assessments and documentation.
  • Communicating daily: Interact with management, contractors, and clients to maintain project transparency and provide regular updates on progress.
