Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or bachelors degree in related field, such as Construction, Materials, Engineering, Geology, etc.
  • 1-8 years' experience in construction materials laboratory or testing operations.
  • Physical strength, stamina and dexterity to lift and move 70 lbs, stoop, bend, and stand throughout the course of up to a 12-hour workday in varying weather conditions in varying terrain.
  • Must be willing to travel within Kentucky and Indiana as required by assignments.
  • Valid State Drivers license with clean driving record
  • Perform all job functions within Atlas safety guidelines
  • Ability to obtain the following, with training provided as needed: Nuclear density gauge and basic concrete and soils certifications
  • ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician
  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I
  • Radiation safety for the use of Nuclear Density Gauges

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with concrete, soils, and asphalt testing is preferred
  • ICC, AASHTO, NICET, and INDOT and/or KYTC certifications are a plus
  • Technical writing, report writing, calculations
  • Metafield, Gint, Tablogs

Responsibilities

  • Perform, interpret, and report laboratory testing on soils, concrete, masonry, rock, and other construction materials while maintaining and calibrating lab equipment.
  • Conduct field visits to retrieve and perform testing on soil and concrete samples, supporting fieldwork during high-demand periods.
  • Receive, document, organize, and process material samples while maintaining a clean, compliant, safety-focused laboratory environment aligned with QA/QC standards.
  • Communicate test results, project requirements, and observations with engineers, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with accreditation requirements (DOT, AMRL, CCRL, AASHTO) and support the preparation, tabulation, and submittal of written and digital reports.
  • Perform additional duties as required, demonstrating safety awareness, teamwork, and support for project and client needs.
