About The Position

ALLWEST is seeking a Construction Materials Laboratory Technician to join our Spokane, WA team. Our team of diverse and driven professionals fosters an environment of collaboration and growth. ALLWEST is an employee-owned geotechnical engineering, environmental, and construction materials testing firm serving the Inland Northwest and beyond. We have six offices located in Idaho, Washington and Montana. Overview: Perform and document routine laboratory tests for the purpose of supporting the Testing and Engineering departments and/or verifying conformance to project plans and specifications.

Requirements

  • Preferred minimum one year of applicable experience in soils, asphalt, or concrete testing (We're willing to train someone with the right aptitude and willingness to learn.)
  • ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician preferred
  • WAQTC certification preferred
  • Ability to use a computer and/or mobile device to complete daily field reports
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. alone and maneuver up to 75 lbs. with assistance
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to accurately apply basic math skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client-service approach
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • On-the-job training provided. If you have applicable experience, that's great, but we'll gladly train someone with the desire and aptitude to learn!

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Laboratory Manager set up and operate the appropriate laboratory testing equipment to perform the required testing on soil, aggregate, concrete and asphalt.
  • Provide timely and accurate test results in the proper format as per specifications, building codes, company policy and procedures.
  • Assist with laboratory equipment maintenance and calibrations.
  • Participate in keeping the equipment and the workspace clean and organized.
  • Communicate professionally with project managers, senior field staff, project engineers, and other laboratory personnel.
  • Obtain and maintain all applicable certifications as required.
  • Provide quality customer service including meeting quality standards for services and an overall positive representation of company values and expectations.
  • Perform all duties in a manner that supports individual and co-worker safety.
  • Record hours worked daily in the company time-keeping system.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
