Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma/GED
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction testing/inspecting soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
  • Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
  • Good math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
  • The understanding of a fluctuating schedule and an interest in occasional travel
  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day)
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs arise

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications/Professional Licensure-Registrations: at least two(2) or more active certifications, a plus: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)

Responsibilities

  • Project and Document Review : Understand project requirements before fieldwork; accurately record observations and test results related to construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and other pertinent materials.
  • Metafield® Utilization : Efficiently manage data using field and laboratory information systems.
  • Equipment Maintenance : Ensure field and lab tools are accurate and meet industry standards.
  • Inspection Monitoring : Follow International Building Code (IBC) standards for testing and inspecting construction materials.
  • Stakeholder Communication : Interact with management, contractors, and clients to report project progress and resolve any issues.
  • Experience shifting work hours based on project needs and weather conditions, including early mornings, some Saturdays, and overtime (paid at time and a half).
