S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our Construction Services team in Knoxville, Tennessee. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction materials testing and inspections.
  • Five or more active certifications, such as: ACI: Field Testing Grade I, Strength Testing Technician, or Laboratory Technician; ICC: Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, or Soils Special Inspector.
  • Strong communication skills (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Solid math skills, including a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure.

Responsibilities

  • Examine construction plans and specifications to ensure alignment with on-site conditions.
  • Conduct field and lab tests on soils, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and other materials to verify compliance.
  • Accurately document test results using field data management software such as Metafield.
  • Ensure proper calibration of testing equipment to maintain accuracy.
  • Perform inspections for regulatory compliance and quality assurance.
