The Construction Manager shall develop relationships with key stakeholders and support Project Managers to deliver excellence for our clients on our projects. The Construction Manager will be accountable to the Project Manager and will support the Project Superintendent at site in driving the overall construction of the project from Start to Substantial Completion according to plan. This role is part of the Site Management team and supports the overall planning of works at site in conjunction with the Project Superintendent, tracking progress, implementation of the HSE and Quality Plans at site, oversight of the subcontracted work, tracking labor and equipment usage, and client interface at site as required.

  • Leads safety meetings and All Hands meetings, as required.
  • Conducts analysis on HSE compliance shortfalls and explains findings.
  • Pro-actively manages site quality management plan with Quality team.
  • Accountable for implementation of Inspection and Test Plan at site.
  • Collaborates with the Quality team to compile the project Lessons Learned.
  • Ensures the project Job Books are complete and meet the Client and RES' internal requirements.
  • Ensures that Environmental permit requirements are adhered to at site.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensures that the project is utilizing Safety Management Systems (SMS), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and technical procedures.
  • Provides excellence in the management and delivery of the project in line with the client's expectations.
  • Strengthens and continually maintains the client relationship.
  • Acts as first point of contact for Client Representatives on site in absence of Project Manager.
  • Assists with managing the project plan and participates in kick-off and close-out meetings.
  • Manages project-required construction permits as a prerequisite for project inception.
  • Assists with allocating budget, costs to date, forecasts cost to completion for labor and equipment, procurement, and materials management.
  • Assists in prioritizing and managing the execution tasks based on the project execution plan and delivery objectives.
  • Actively participates in the weekly execution discussions (PSRs) with the Project Manager and the site management team.
  • Participates in the development of the project Level 3 schedule.
  • Reviews and provides feedback on the 3-week look ahead schedule to the Project Superintendent and the Operations team.
  • Approves project schedules updates.
  • Manages purchases of project-related materials and tools as per the approved DOA.
  • Approves invoices for services and goods certifying that these have been received.
  • Accountable for obtaining timely response and closeout of site generated Requests for Information (RFIs) by engineering and client throughout the construction phase of the project.
  • Analyzes the EAC assessment in relation to labor and equipment and gets involved in discussions to identify opportunities and highlight gaps in costs to ensure conformity to budget and project execution plan.
  • Maintains a complete understanding of all contractual obligations for the project and documentation of variances.
  • Collaborates with Project Controls to develop Change orders.
  • Works with Project Manager and Procurement teams to generate and negotiate Scope of Work definition and special terms and conditions for subcontracts.
  • Accountable for managing the subcontractors' performance on site and obtaining their status updates and progress reports in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the daily tracking of work completed and decision-making for actions required to meet the schedule.
  • Creates the weekly and monthly reports sent to company management and the client.
  • Directs, guides, and coaches Project and Field Engineers to ensure site activities are understood and follow established processes through quality checks.
  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.
  • Fosters and demonstrates a workplace inclusive of creating opportunities, serving others, building trust, innovation, and exceeding expectations.
  • Provides tasks and assignments that challenge and stretch employees' responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or related degree or any combination of education and experience (2 years experience = 1 year education), required.
  • 5+ years EPC Project Management, preferred.
  • 3+ years Solar or T&D EPC experience, required.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to travel 76-100% of the time domestically.
  • Advanced level of knowledge in Change orders, Leadership, Project Permits, Project Scheduling System (P6), Procore, Bluebeam, Communication skills, Relationship building, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), Construction drawings, General construction, Writing Skills, Reporting, Sub-Contractor, vendor, and material management.
  • Intermediate level of knowledge in Contract Management, Project Finance, QA/QC, Safety, Environmental concepts, ARCGIS, Sub-contractor and vendor management.
