About The Position

Construction Managers serve as the liaison between construction contractors, design engineers, suppliers, vendors and the District. The Construction Manager will provide leadership to the assigned field staff in the performance of their duties and manage the administrative efforts required to support construction of the multiple projects. This position requires flexibility between the office and the project sites. The office is in Fort Worth with sites ranging from Cedar Creek Lake to Lake Bridgeport.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of construction, construction management, and/or construction administration
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree requirement may be substituted with additional relevant construction management experience (on a year for year basis)
  • Valid Texas driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Fifteen (15) years of construction management experience
  • Construction related to water transmission infrastructure (pump stations, pipelines, tanks, etc.)
  • Construction Management Certifications

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact on construction contracts, with primary responsibility for construction contract administration and quality assurance
  • Provide direction, training and manage the efforts of Resident Representatives on their assigned Projects
  • Provide observation of construction on each site to determine that construction is in conformance with Contract Documents
  • Conduct monthly progress meetings and report on Project progress
  • Recognize when an issue on one Project might impact or improve operation on another Project and bring this to the attention of the Project Manager
  • Work with contractors and property owners to resolve any issues or disputes related to construction
  • Support administration and negotiations of claims with contractors with support from consultants and construction services staff
  • Recognize risk elements of the risk management plan and initiate countermeasures as directed
  • Manage the efforts of materials testing laboratories and specialty observers assigned to their Projects
  • Prepare reports and other documentation in accordance District’s Construction Management standards
  • Review Shop Drawings received from the contractor for conformance with the Contract Documents’ requirements and specifications
  • Review and respond to contractor Requests for Information
  • Administer and manage resolution of day-to-day construction issues
  • Oversee Operations employees being utilized for the project on a day-to-day basis
  • Coordinate all necessary facility shutdowns with the contractor and District’s Operations Department
  • Manage the process of closing out the construction contract
  • Maintain familiarity with strategic District levels of service
  • Continuous improvement monitoring and innovation efforts
  • Perform other duties as required
