About The Position

AECOM is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee public works infrastructure projects throughout Los Angeles County and Orange County. Projects may include roadway improvements, storm drain systems, traffic signal upgrades, and related municipal infrastructure. The Construction Manager will represent the owner or agency during construction and will be responsible for managing contractors, coordinating project stakeholders, monitoring construction progress, and ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with plans, specifications, schedules, budgets, and applicable public works regulations.

Requirements

  • BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineering license in the State of California.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of experience in construction management for public works or civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience managing projects involving roadway construction, storm drain systems, or traffic signal improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of public works construction practices, plans, and specifications.
  • Experience coordinating with municipal agencies, contractors, and engineering consultants.
  • Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, contract documents, and construction schedules.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with municipal public works departments in Los Angeles County or Orange County.
  • Familiarity with Caltrans Standard Specifications and Standard Plans.
  • Familiarity with Greenbook Standards.
  • Experience managing multiple infrastructure projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction activities for public works infrastructure projects, including roadway improvements, storm drain installation, and traffic signal construction.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between contractors, engineers, agency staff, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and safety requirements.
  • Review and approve submittals, RFIs, change orders, and construction schedules.
  • Oversee field inspectors and project staff to ensure proper documentation and construction oversight.
  • Conduct construction meetings, coordinate issue resolution, and maintain clear communication among project team members.
  • Track project budgets, progress payments, and contract modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with local agency standards, California public works requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Review and verify contractor pay applications and quantities installed.
  • Assist with project closeout, including punch list items and final documentation.
